April 2nd, 2009 by Greg Johnson · Comments

No matter the state of the economy, every couple I meet with is looking to stretch their dollar when it comes to planning their wedding.

Here a couple of free tools that you can use to help develop a realistic wedding budget, manage it, and keep costs under control.

Wedding Planning Calculator

This calculator allows you to see what other couples have spent on almost every aspect of their wedding. It is zip code based, and I found it to be fairly accurate based upon some of our recent weddings. This tool is a good starting point if you need to develop an overall budget, or want to get an idea of how much to budget for specific expenses.

Wedding Cost Estimator

Wedding Budget Organizer

After you have used the Wedding Cost Estimator, you can download this free Wedding Budget Organizer tool to plug in the figures in the estimated cost column, and compare them with your actual cost. You can also change the percentage of your budget for the various types of wedding expenses.
You’ll probably want to play around with this tool, especially if you’re not used to working with spreadsheets. Once your get comfortable using this tool, you’ll find it will seriously help you manage or control your wedding expenses.
