About the Blog

Welcome to the Greenfield Flower Shop blog – helping consumers learn more about flowers, share their own experiences, and to promote different gift-giving options, both inside and outside of the flower industry.

My name is Greg Johnson and I am the owner of Greenfield Flower Shop, a retail florist located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I also maintain FlowersFloralFlorist.com, a floral resource site, where this blog resides.

Originally, I built this site as a testing ground to track the different methods I was using to market my flower shop online.

While I originally considered using WordPress to manage all of the content on this site, I was hesitant to try it because I didn’t want to go through the learning curve. It was easier just to continue to add promotions to the web site.

But in the flower business, many of the local flower specials I come across can be very spontaneous and short-lived. I knew I couldn’t wait for customers to find me, I needed a faster way to deliver information to them.

A friend suggested that I should use the blog to post updates about our special promotions and see what happens. So I started doing just that in January 2007, and I haven’t looked back since.

As this blog has grown, it’s generated a lot traffic for my other web sites. Looking back, all I can think is “Why did I wait so long?”

Since most of my customers are online, the ability to update my content when needed has helped to shape the direction of my flower shop’s marketing efforts.

Much of what I’ve written here is “evergreen” content, but some is also promotional.

This site, along with email and social media, is a quick and easy way for me to get time-sensitive information to my current customers, as well as reach a wider audience.

If you would like to keep up with what we’re doing, you can do so through one of our subscription methods.
