The Wedding Planning Tools No One Talks About Anymore
If you believe that “a picture is worth a thousand words”, then it’s no coincidence why Pinterest is one of the most useful wedding planning tools available today.
It’s a no-brainer. When it comes to viewing wedding pics on Pinterest, there is certainly no shortage of eye candy.
But when that eye candy intersects with the reality of the costs involved, that’s where the rubber meets the road.
This short video from Angie’s List shows how quickly wedding costs can add up.
No matter the state of the economy, every couple I meet with is looking to stretch their dollar when it comes to planning their wedding.
In order to do that, there are a couple of essential wedding planning tools that I think every couple should have in their arsenal.
You can use these free tools to help develop a realistic budget, manage it, and keep costs under control.
Using these tools is certainly not as much fun as planning your dream wedding. Spreadsheets and budgeting calculators are pretty boring unless you’re an accountant (or marrying one). Probably why nobody talks about them much anymore.
So why should you use them? Because every wedding is a major expense, including yours. These tools will help you save money, or at least show you how to spend what you have more effectively.
Here are the two budgeting tools I think are worth checking out:
Wedding Cost Estimator
This handy tool allows you to see what other couples have spent on almost every aspect of their wedding. It is zip code based, and I found it to be fairly accurate based upon some of our recent weddings.
This tool is a good starting point if you need to develop an overall budget, or want to get an idea of how much to budget for specific expenses.
Wedding Budget Organizer
After you have used the Wedding Cost Estimator, you can download this free Wedding Budget template tool to plug in the figures in the estimated cost column, and compare them with your actual cost. You can also change the percentage of your budget for the various types of wedding expenses.
You’ll probably want to play around with this tool, especially if you’re not used to working with spreadsheets. Once you get comfortable using this tool, you’ll find it will seriously help you manage or control your wedding expenses.
