According to a recent survey conducted by the Society of American Florists and the National Retail Federation:
- An estimated 250 million roses are produced for Valentine’s Day.
- Valentine’s Day is the No. 1 holiday for florists, accounting for 30% of all holiday floral transactions for the year.
- Roses are the most-purchased flower for Valentine’s Day, with 69% of those purchased being red.
- In 2022, U.S. consumers spent an estimated $23.9 billion on Valentine’s Day, including the cost of flowers, greeting cards, candy, an evening out, and jewelry.
As you can see, the demand for fresh flowers for Valentine’s Day is huge. It’s always an exceptionally busy time for florists, especially when the holiday falls during the work week.

First, ordering flowers early ensures that your order will be fulfilled. At our shop, priority flower delivery is always given to early orders. Because of the large number of orders, same-day delivery is not an option for many florists on Valentine’s Day
Flower shops, including ours, experience a huge influx of orders during the last few days leading up to Valentine’s Day.
By ordering in advance, you can avoid the risk of your order not being able to be filled and delivered because the shop has already sold out of its inventory.
Second, ordering early allows you to secure the best selection and type of flower you want. Flower shops, including ours, often have a limited selection of certain types of flowers on Valentine’s Day, and the best blooms can sell out quickly.
Ordering in advance gives you access to the widest variety of flowers. I can’t remember a year when we did not sell out of red roses on Valentine’s Day.
